Students who passed SSC or equivalent in or after 2008 and HSC or equivalent in any group in 2012 or 2013 can apply. Candidates must have total GPA 6.5 without fourth subject in SSC and HSC level exams.

For GCE students: must pass at least 5 subjects in O-Level and 2 subjects in A-Level. Of these 7 subjects candidates must have minimum B grade in at least 4 subjects and minimum C grade in 3 subjects.

Admission Requirements of Chittagong University (Undergraduate)

1. Applicants must have a Bachelor with minimum GPA 2.5 or a Masters degree from any recognized University.

2. Applicants of teaching profession must have highest age 35 till 31st December, 2012 and general applicants must have highest 30 years.

2. Service holders candidates should submit the collected permission letter from Chief of the institution (study leave permitted letter if candidates are selected for admission).

3. Students should not do any job or study any other institution.

4. Applicants have to attach attested photocopy of all educational certificates & transcripts & 2 copy passport size photographs.

China has opened the world's longest high-speed rail line, which more than halves the time required to travel from the country's capital in the north to Guangzhou, an economic hub in southern China.

Wednesday's opening of the 2,298 kilometer (1,428 mile)-line was commemorated by the 9 a.m. departure of a train from Beijing for Guangzhou. Another train left Guangzhou for Beijing an hour later.

China has massive resources and considerable prestige invested in its showcase high-speed railways program.

But it has in recent months faced high-profile problems: part of a line collapsed in central China after heavy rains in March, while a bullet train crash in the summer of 2011 killed 40 people. The former railway minister, who spearheaded the bullet train's construction, and the ministry's chief engineer, were detained in an unrelated corruption investigation months before the crash.

Trains on the latest high-speed line will initially run at 300 kph (186 mph) with a total travel time of about eight hours. Before, the fastest time between the two cities by train was more than 20 hours.

The line also makes stops in major cities along the way, including provincial capitals Shijiazhuang, Wuhan and Changsha.

More than 150 pairs of high-speed trains will run on the new line every day, the official Xinhua News Agency said, citing the Ministry of Railways.

Rail is an essential part in China's transportation system, and the government plans to build a grid of high-speed railways with four east-west lines and four north-south lines by 2020.

The opening of the new line brings the total distance covered by China's high-speed railway system to more than 9,300 km (5,800 miles) - about half its 2015 target of 18,000 km.

Marketing management has the task of influenc­ing the level, timings and composition of demand in a way that will help the organization to achieve its objectives.  Also, A marketer has to take into consideration different types of demand for his product before he comes up with a strategy.

Eight demand states are possible.

1.   Negative Demand:
            Feature: A major part of the market dislikes the product and may even pay price to avoid it.
            Example: Vaccination, dental work.
            Marketing tasks: i. Analyze why the market dislike the product.
                                        ii. Analyze whether the marketing program consist of program redesign, lower price and more positive promotion.

2.   No demand:
             Feature: Target consumers may be unaware and un interested about the product.
             Example: i. Farmers may be not interested in new farming method.
                             ii.College students may not be interested in foreign language course.
            Marketing tasks: Find ways to connect the product’s benefits of products with the people’s natural needs and interest.

3.   Latent demand:
                 Feature: Consumers may share a strong need that cannot be satisfied by any existing product.
                 Example: Harmless cigarette, safer neigherhood,more fuel efficient car.
                 Marketing tasks:  i.Measure the size of the potential market.
                                              ii.Develop goods and services to satisfy the demand.
4. Declining demand:
                 Feature: When the demand of the product or service becomes lower.
                 Example: Private colleges have seen application falls.
                 Marketing tasks: i.Reverse the declining demand through creative remarketing.                       
                                             ii.Analyze the cause of decline and determine whether the demand can be stimulated by new target market.

5. Irregular demand:
                   Feature: Demand varies on a seasonal, daily and hourly basis.
                   Examples: Museums are under visited in week days and over crowded on week days.
                   Marketing tasks: Find ways to alter the pattern of demand through flexible pricing, promotion and other incentives.

6. Full demand:
                  Feature: When the organization is pleased with their volume of business.
                  Marketing tasks: i.Maintain the current level of demand in the face of changing consumer preference.
                                             ii. Maintain and improve the products quality and continuously measure consumer satisfaction.
7. Overfull demand:
                     Feature: Demand level is higher that the organization can and want to handle.
                     Example: National park is terribly overcrowded in the summer.
                     Marketing Tasks: i.Finding ways to reduce the demand of the products.
                                                  ii.Rasing price.
                                                  iii.Reducing promotion and service.
8. Unwholesome demand:
                         Feature: Those kinds of demands, not acceptable by the society.
                         Example: CIgeretts, hard drings, alcohol.
                         Marketing tasks: i.Fear message
                                                     ii.Price hikes.
                                                     iii.Reduce availability.

আমাদের দেশে এমনটাই বেশি ঘটে_যে বিষয়ে পড়াশোনা করেছেন সে বিষয়ে কাজ পাচ্ছেন না, চাকরি করতে হচ্ছে অন্য বিষয়ে। ফলে ক্যারিয়ার ঠিক করা এবং সে অনুযায়ী পড়াশোনা করা যথেষ্টই কঠিন। দুটি ভিন্ন ভিন্ন কেস স্টাডির সারসংক্ষেপ তুলে ধরা হলো এখানে।
কেস স্টাডি-১
মনির। বয়স ২৯। গুলশানের নামকরা রেস্তোরাঁর শেফ । তাঁর ক্যারিয়ার আজ যেদিকে এগোচ্ছে এর শুরুর গল্পটা ছিল একদম ভিন্ন। ডাক্তার হবেন বলে বিজ্ঞান বিভাগে পড়াশোনা করেন। ২০০১ সালে এসএসসি পাস করেন। ফলাফল আশানুরূপ না হওয়ায় পরিবারের সদস্যদের মতে বাণিজ্য বিভাগে স্থানান্তর। মনির ২০০৪ সালে বাণিজ্য বিভাগে এইচএসসি পাস করেন। ফলাফল এবারও আশানুরূপ নয়। কিন্তু আর পরিবর্তন নয়। অনার্সে হিসাববিজ্ঞানে ভর্তি প্রতিযোগিতায় হার মেনে বাণিজ্যে পাস কোর্সে ভর্তি হলেন এবং ২০০৮ সালে দ্বিতীয় বিভাগে পাস করেন। এবার চাকরি দরকার। চাকরির পাশাপাশি মাস্টার্সও করতে হবে। শুরু হলো চাকরি খোঁজা। চাকরি জুটল না, তবে টিউশনি জুটল। দিনের অনেকটা সময় কেটে যায় টিউশনি করে, বাকিটা চাকরির খোঁজে। হিসাববিজ্ঞান খুবই জনপ্রিয় বিষয় এবং এর চাকরির বাজার বিস্তৃত। ফলে অনেকেই যাঁরা শুধু অনার্স ও মাস্টার্স পাস করাই নন, সঙ্গে আইসিএমএ কিংবা সিএ অধ্যয়নরত তাঁদের সঙ্গে প্রতিযোগিতায় মনির পেরে উঠলেন না। ভালো চাকরিও পেলেন না। একটা চাকরি পেয়েও ছেড়ে দিলেন। তিনি খেয়াল করলেন, হিসাবরক্ষণ পেশা তাঁর ভালো লাগে না। অবশেষে ২০১১ সালে সব কিছু বিশ্লেষণ করে তিনি বুঝতে পারলেন, হিসাববিজ্ঞান তাঁর বিষয় নয়। তিনি এবার বাংলাদেশ পর্যটন করপোরেশন থেকে রান্নার বিষয়ে প্রশিক্ষণ নিয়ে শেফ বা রাঁধুনি হিসেবে ক্যারিয়ার গড়তে চান। তারপর বিদেশ চলে যাবেন। বিদেশে এ পেশায় অনেক বেতন। এক বছরের কোর্সে ভর্তি হয়ে গেলেন। ভালো ফল করলেন। অভিজ্ঞতার জন্য চাকরি করা দরকার। পেয়েও গেলেন গুলশানের একটি রেস্তোরাঁয়। কিন্তু বেতন মাত্র পাঁচ হাজার টাকা! বিদেশ যাওয়ার আগ পর্যন্ত তাঁকে এ ধরনের বেতনেই কাজ করে যেতে হবে। তাঁর বয়স এখন ২৯। স্কুলজীবনের পর ক্যারিয়ারের মূল্যবান ১১টি বছর পার করার পরও তিনি এখন একজন শিক্ষানবিশ ছাড়া কিছুই নন!
কেস স্টাডি-২
সাদী। বয়স ২৮। সবে সিএ পাস করলেন। স্কুলজীবনে স্বপ্ন ছিল বড় চাকরি করবেন। এবার সেই স্বপ্ন পূরণ হবে শিগগিরই। বাণিজ্য বিভাগে এসএসসি, এইচএসসি, অনার্স, মাস্টার্স ও সিএ। যদিও ফল ছিল মাঝারি মানের, কিন্তু আগাগোড়া পুরো সময়ই তিনি বাণিজ্য বিভাগে পড়াশোনা করেছেন।

বিশ্লেষণ
এক.
শিক্ষাজীবনে বিষেশায়িত পথে পা বাড়ানোর আগেই পেশা নির্ধারণ করা উচিত। অর্থাৎ পেশা নির্ধারণ না করে পড়ার বিষয় নির্বাচন করা যুক্তিযুক্ত নয়।
দুই.
বিষয় নির্বাচনে ভুল হলে যত দ্রুত সম্ভব এই ভুল শোধরানো উচিত। যত দেরি হবে, ক্ষতির মাশুলও তত বেশি।
তিন.
যতই সম্ভাবনা থাকুক, যে পেশা ভালো লাগে না, সে পেশায় সাফল্য লাভ করা কষ্টকর।
চার.
ভালোলাগা পেশার সংশ্লিষ্ট পড়াশোনায় মাঝারি ফলাফল হলেও দ্রুত লক্ষ্যে পেঁৗছানো যায়। সুতরাং প্রতি পরীক্ষায় প্রথম হতেই হবে_এমন দৃঢ়তা পেশার সাফল্যের গতিপথে জটিলতা বাড়ায়।
পাঁচ.
দ্রুত, কিন্তু সঠিক সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়ার ওপর পেশার সাফল্য অনেকাংশে নির্ভরশীল।
পেশা নির্বাচন
অনেকেই আছেন, সদ্য পড়াশোনা শেষে পেশা নির্বাচন না করেই কাজের প্রয়োজনে যেকোনো চাকরিতেই যোগ দেন। সেলস, বিপণন, কাস্টমার কেয়ার, মানবসম্পদসহ নানা বিভাগে। ফলে একটা নির্দিষ্ট সময় পার হওয়ার পর দেখা যায়, তিনি অনেক কিছুই মোটামুটি বোঝেন; কিন্তু কোনো বিষয়েই দক্ষ নন। এতে একসময় ক্যারিয়ার হুমকির মুখে পড়ে। বিভাগীয় প্রধান, উচ্চপদস্থ কর্মকর্তা বা বিশেষায়িত পদে কাজ পাওয়া খুব কঠিন হয়ে দাঁড়ায়। ক্যারিয়ার গড়ে তোলার ক্ষেত্রে শুরু থেকেই আপনার করণীয় কী? রইল বিশটি বিশেষায়িত পরামর্শ।
এক.
চাকরি পেলেই চাকরি করবেন না। আগে আপনার ক্যারিয়ার কোন দিকে গড়বেন তা ঠিক করা।
দুই.
দেশে পেশাদার ক্যারিয়ার পরামর্শদাতার সংখ্যা খুবই কম, নেই বললেই চলে। বর্তমানে কেউ কেউ এ বিষয়ের গুরুত্ব অনুধাবন করে পরামর্শ দেওয়ার কাজটি অনিয়মিতভাবে হলেও করছেন। আপনি তাঁদের সাহায্য নিতে পারেন। এ ছাড়া যিনি ভালো অ্যাসেসমেন্ট করতে পারেন এমন কোনো সফল কোনো মানবসম্পদ বিভাগীয় কর্মকর্তার সাহায্য নিতে পারেন। তিনি আপনার পড়াশোনা, প্রশিক্ষণ, চরিত্র ও জীবন-দর্শন জেনে আপনার ভবিষ্যৎ ক্যারিয়ার বিষয়ে দিকনির্দেশনা দিতে পারবেন।
তিন.
আপাতত এই দিকনির্দেশনাকে পাথেয় ধরে আপনাকে এগোতে হবে। নির্দেশিত বিষয়ে চাকরির খোঁজ করুন।
চার.
দ্রুত চাকরি পাওয়ার জন্য পত্রিকা দেখে দেখে জীবনবৃত্তান্ত পাঠানোর পাশাপাশি চাকরিদাতা প্রতিষ্ঠানগুলোর সাহায্য নিতে পারেন। দেশে নামকরা বেশ কিছু প্রতিষ্ঠান আছে, যাঁরা চাকরি দিতে আপনাকে সাহায্য করবে। কেউ বিনা মূল্যে, কেউ এক মাসের বেতনের সমপরিমাণ রেজিস্ট্রেশন ফির বিনিময়ে।
পাঁচ.
চাকরির বিশেষ প্রয়োজনে তাড়াহুড়ো করতে গিয়ে নিজের পড়াশোনা বা আগ্রহের বিষয় বাদ দিয়ে অন্য কোনো বিষয়ে চাকরি নেবেন না। ধৈর্য ধরুন, কষ্ট করুন। নইলে হয়তো এর অনেক বেশি কষ্ট আপনাকে পরে পোহাতে হবে, তখন ফিরে আসার পথও হয়তো খোলা থাকবে না।
ছয়.
আপনি যে বিষয়ে পড়াশোনা করেছেন, সে বিষয়ে দেশে কোনো চাকরির সুযোগ না পেলে আপনি বিদেশেও চেষ্টা চালাতে পারেন। বিদেশে সে বিষয়ে উচ্চতর ডিগ্রি নেওয়ার পাশাপাশি নানা ধরনের কাজ করার সুযোগ পাবেন।
সাত.
দেশে বিষয়ের সঙ্গে সামঞ্জস্য রেখে কাজ পাচ্ছেন না, আবার বিদেশে যাওয়ার সুযোগ বা সামর্থ্য না থাকলে দেশেই চেষ্টা অব্যাহত রাখুন। তবে আপনার মনোযোগ একটু অন্যদিকে ঘোরান। এমন একটি বিষয় নির্বাচন করুন, যা আপনার ভালো লাগে।
আট.
কাজ না করে অনেক সময়ই বোঝা মুশকিল যে উলি্লখিত কাজটি আপনার ভালো লাগছে কি না। সে ক্ষেত্রে যেকোনো বিষয়ে (অন্য সব পথে চেষ্টা করে ব্যর্থ হওয়ার পর) চাকরি পেলে যোগ দিন এবং এভাবে কাজ করে করে দ্রুত বোঝার চেষ্টা করুন_কোন কাজ আপনার জন্য উপযুক্ত।
নয়.
যে কাজটি করছেন, সেটি ভালো না লাগলে দ্রুত (সম্ভাব্যতার বিচারে পরবর্তী পেশার) চাকরি জোগাড়ে মনোনিবেশ করুন। চাকরি তো আছে, মাস শেষে বেতনও তো পাচ্ছেন_এই ভেবে ভুল পেশায় দীর্ঘদিন সময় ব্যয় করে নিজের বিপদ ডেকে আনবেন না।
দশ.
নিজের পড়াশোনার বিষয়ের সঙ্গে মিল রেখে যদি চাকরি পেয়ে যান, তাহলে খুবই ভালো। কাজের পাশাপাশি এ বিষয়ে উচ্চতর ডিগ্রি নিতে চেষ্টা চালিয়ে যাবেন। আমরা অনেকেই চাকরি পেয়ে পেশার উন্নতির বিষয়টি ভুলে যাই। এ বিষয়ে আরো পড়াশোনা করার বিষয়টি মাথায় রাখি না, যা পরে অনেক সময় ভোগান্তির কারণ হয়ে দাঁড়ায়।
এগার.
নিজের পড়াশোনার বিষয়ের সঙ্গে মিল রেখে যদি চাকরি না পান, তাহলে আপনার দুটো কাজ করণীয় আছে। ক. পেয়ে যাওয়া চাকরি ভালো লাগছে কি না; অর্থাৎ এই চাকরিটিকে পেশা হিসেবে নেবেন কি না সে সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া আর খ. যদি পেশা হিসেবে নেওয়ার কথা ভাবেন, তাহলে নতুন এই বিষয়টিকে ভালোভাবে রপ্ত করার জন্য পড়াশোন শুরু করা।
বারো.
অনেক সময় ভালো লাগা পেশা বিষয়ে দেশে কোনো পড়াশোনার সুযোগ হয়তো সহজলভ্য নয়। যেমন_যদি ঠিক করেন যে আপনি বিক্রয়কর্মী হিসেবে পেশা গড়ে তুলতে চান, তাহলে বিক্রয় বিষয়ে দেশে কোনো প্রতিষ্ঠানে আনুষ্ঠানিক শিক্ষার সুযোগ আছে বলে আমার জানা নেই। তবে অনেক প্রশিক্ষণ কেন্দ্র আছে, যেখানে আপনি স্বল্প বা দীর্ঘমেয়াদে এ বিষয়ে প্রশিক্ষণ নিতে পারেন।
তেরো.
যদি পেশা নির্বাচন করে ফেলেন আর দেশে এ বিষয়ে কোনো শিক্ষা গ্রহণের ব্যবস্থা না থাকে, তাহলে প্রয়োজনে দেশের বাইরে থেকে হলেও পড়াশোনা করুন বা প্রশিক্ষণ নিন।
চৌদ্দ.
পাশাপাশি আপনার পেশাবিষয়ক বই, ম্যাগাজিন ও ইন্টারনেটে এ বিষয়ে পড়াশোনা করুন।
পনেরো.
আপনার পেশা সম্পর্কিত বিষয়ে যারা সফল তাদের সঙ্গে পরিচিত হোন ও তাদের পরামর্শ নিন।
ষোলো.
অনেক সময় ভালো বেতন ও অন্য সুবিধা পাওয়ার লোভে অনেকে পেশা পরিবর্তন করে ফেলেন। খেয়াল রাখতে হবে পেশা পরিবর্তন একটি ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ কাজ। বারবার চাকরি পরিবর্তন ও পেশা পরিবর্তন ভবিষ্যৎ ক্যারিয়ারে জন্য সুফল বয়ে আনবে না। সুতরাং কোনো কারণেই নিজের পেশা পরিবর্তন করার আগে বারবার ভাবুন।
সতেরো.
আপনার পেশাসংক্রান্ত অ্যাসোসিয়েশন থাকলে তার সদস্য হোন। অ্যাসোসিয়েশনের ভালো সদস্যদের সঙ্গে সম্পর্ক গড়ে তুলুন। আপনার দরকারে এই নেটওয়ার্ক আপনাকে বিভিন্ন পরামর্শ দিয়ে সাহায্য করতে পারে।
আঠারো.
যে বিষয়ে পেশা গড়তে চান, নিজের প্রতিষ্ঠানকে সে বিষয়ে সবচেয়ে দক্ষ করে গড়ে তোলার চেষ্টা করুন, অথবা এ বিষয়ে সবচেয়ে ভালো প্রতিষ্ঠানে কাজ করার স্বপ্ন দেখুন। তবে প্রথম পথটিই সবচেয়ে ভালো যদি সফল হতে পারেন।
উনিশ.
অন্যকে দেখে বা অপেশাদার কারো পরামর্শে হুট করে ক্যারিয়ারবিষয়ক সিদ্ধান্ত নেবেন না। আপনার দক্ষতা ও জীবন-দর্শন একটি একক বিষয়, অন্য কারো সঙ্গে চট করে মেলার সুযোগ নেই। আপনার পথ একান্তই আপনার। আপনার দক্ষতার সঙ্গে আপনার ভালো লাগা বা মন্দ লাগার সম্পর্ক আছে। তা ভুললে চলবে না।
বিশ.
ক্যারিয়ার বিষয়ে ভালো পরামর্শ পাওয়ার জন্য যে কোনো বড় প্রতিষ্ঠানের মানব সম্পদ বিভাগের প্রধানের পরামর্শ চাইতে পারেন।
